CORPORATE CHARACTERISTICS

CORPORATE VISION
Our vision is to ensure a healthy, self-empowered life of women and youth.

CORPORATE MISSION

RUWACDA takes cognizance of the philosophy of qualitative life: man’s existence exceeds his essence. Anything that impedes man’s existence must be necessarily dealt with, re moved, stopped,
halted, eradicated, or otherwise. Therefore, RUWACDA seeks to help people help themselves effectively, efficiently and earnestly for the long term.

CORPORATE GOALS

Our aim is to:
a. Empower women and the youth
b. Promote reproductive health among women, youth and men alike
c. Develop among the youth a life free of social vices

CORPORATE OBJECTIVES

Our objectives are:
· To offer women, the youth and men alike a variety of reproductive health services by within the geographic areas of operation.
· To empower about 5000 women and youth through integrated rural development programmes to increase their access to knowledge (education and literacy), provide basic needs and services (resources), promote decision-making power (fertility control) and increase their awareness of and participation in their communities.
· To empower women and youth in 10 districts through economic interventions to improve their economic status through income generating activities, access to resources, and employment.
· To influence and promote educational opportunities of the youth and women in the geographic areas covered.

ACTIVITIES

The strategies below have been adopted by management of RUWACDA in order to conscientiously achieve the above stated aims and objectives:
2 Seminars
3 Workshops
4 Durbars
5 Vocational Training in various trades such as: hair braiding, weaving, beading, soap making, sewing, catering, batik and tie and dye making, off-season gardening, bee keeping, animal rearing, among others.
6 Literacy Programme in Information and Communication Technology.

TARGET GROUP

Our target groups basically are the urban poor women who are unemployed, underpaid, or engage in other poor jobs, and rural women and the youth in general, including children. These groups of people are noted to be most vulnerable as a result of poverty and their subordinating nature in society. However, the emphasis is placed on the rural dwellers that generally, are underserved so that they can be offered the opportunity of receiving a fair share of access to information on issues bordering their development, empowerment and general welfare. Nonetheless, the in-school youth and those out of school for one reason or the other, are not left out in this respect.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Over the years Management of RUWACDA has choked successes in the following dimensions:
1. Carried out a project on “The Consequences of Teenage Pregnancy and HIV/AIDS”, a project implemented for in-school youth.

6. Implemented Ghana AIDS Commission funded project on Behavioral Change Communication Activities in HIV/AIDS.
7. Implemented in collaboration with National TB Control Program a Global Fund funded project on Behavioral Change Communication and IE&C activities in TB.

Currently, RUWACDA is facilitating the relocation of a group of women in palm kernel oil production. This project has become necessary as a result of frequent flooding of their project site. The project encompasses the acquisition of Palm Kernel cracking, separation and grinding machines to be installed in fifty (50) units building as part of the project component.
There is also an on-going facilitation to construct a mill as a source of income generation for the youth group of Pusiga community in the Bawku Municipality in the Upper East region of Ghana.
